Answers to
the questions listed above
1) What is
the purpose of a Jet Transition Course?
Flying a jet is different from flying a piston
powered aircraft, and it takes some time and
experience to get used to flying at higher
speeds and weights. Jet aircraft also have
additional, more complex systems. The purpose of
the jet transition course is to prepare a pilot,
with piston driven experience, to be ready to go
to an aircraft training program and not have to
learn to fly a jet aircraft, and therefore be
successful in finishing the training program on
time and on budget.
2) Why would it benefit me to do
a Jet Transition Course?
Many employers are willing to hire pilots with
low hours, but are scared that the applicant
will not be successful in completing their
aircraft training program within reasonable
flight times. A training program is very fast
paced, and many applicants cannot complete the
course on time because of having to learn and
adapt to flying a jet aircraft. A jet transition
course prepares the applicant with the knowledge
and gives the necessary experience in a
simulator, so when the candidate goes to an
aircraft training program, he or she will be
thoroughly prepared. It will also show the
employer that you take flying seriously, prepare
yourself adequately, and
have the drive to be successful.
3)
Do I need an FAA pilot license to do a type
rating course or jet transition course?
No FAA license is required for a type rating
course or a jet transition course as long as you
hold a pilot license issued by a country
approved by the International Civil Aviation
Organization (ICAO). You will need an FAA license
with multi-Engine and Instrument airplane
privileges if you like the type rating to be
added to your pilot license.
4) Do
I need an FAA medical to do a type rating or jet
transition course?
No, a medical
certificate is not required for ground
training.
5) How can I convert a foreign
pilot license into an FAA pilot license?
The Federal Aviation Administration will
convert any pilot license issued by a country
(state) approved and recognized by the
International Civil Aviation Organization
(ICAO). Go to the
conversion page with detailed information
on how to get your license converted.
6)
Will a
type rating course be added to my pilot license?
Yes, if you hold an FAA pilot license, the
aircraft type rating will be added to your
license. There will be no limitations on your
pilot license if you complete any type rating
course, since the final check-ride is completed
in the actual aircraft.
Contact us for more
information.
7) How can I prepare for the
different courses?
If you sign up
for one of our courses, we will send you a
detailed e-mail, along with a manual, explaining
how to
best prepare for your training before you arrive at
the training center.
8) How
much flight time do I need?
No
minimum flight time is required as long as the
applicant holds a private, commercial, or
airline transport pilot license with
multi-engine class rating and an instrument
airplane rating. If the applicant holds a
commercial pilot license and meets the minimum
hour requirements for the airline transport
pilot license, an airline transport license will
be issued upon completion of the check-ride for
the Pilot in Command type rating.
9) Why is
SkyBlue Jet Aviation less expensive then other training providers?
SkyBlue Jet Aviation doesn't have the
large overhead costs that other training
providers have. We do
everything in our power to keep the price of the
programs as low as possible and maintain an
outstanding customer service.
10) Can SkyBlue Jet Aviation help me with a job
search?
Yes, our instructors and team members are all
heavily involved in corporate flying, they have
knowledge of which companies are currently
hiring.
11) Can I convert my FAA type
rating to a foreign license?
It
depends on the country you would like your
license to convert to. Most countries recognize
FAA pilot licenses and will convert your entire
FAA pilot license to their license including all
aircraft authorizations and type ratings.
12) Why should I use SkyBlue Jet Aviation for my
aviation training needs?
